Wikis Are Harmful to Your Life-part 2

I'm in that picture kneeling, white shirt center of the poster. I was a full time student at Athens State University when that picture was taken. We are all members of the same church, we had gone to Atlanta, GA for an even called "Time Out for Women."  It's two days of being uplifted and not just spiritually.  The women in the brown shirt to the right of me is a graduate of ASU and now a teacher, she saved me.  I was ready to drop out the first week of my first semester at ASU and most likely would have if not for her. I had no idea what Live Text or Black Board was, but I do now thanks to her.  The woman standing in the group on the right, second from the poster (solid black shirt) is my rock and best friend. She keeps me grounded even when I don't want to be.

This is one of my ways I like to relax.  I'm in the green shirt (right side of the picture) about to cross the solid red line. It doesn't take much work to do the 1/2 marathons, two hours of running, a shower, half hour nap, and then  off to the Nashville Zoo (I love zoos). I like running because no one wants to run with me, they say I run too far and that's okay by my book.  I do homework or study for tests when I run.  I think of things I want to write or review in my head concepts I need to know for a test.  I have eight weeks before this years race and because of the wiki I have not been able to train like I want/need to.  I have only hit 7 miles during training right now because I had torn my calcaneal (Achilles') tendon and had to recover before I could start running.  I'm telling you this because these pictures were taken at a time when I had a life, it's a reminder that I didn't have any wikis trying to destroy my sanity or life and both pictures were taken while I was a full time student at ASU as a double major, and piano lessons.

Just when I think we have it completed, Colonel Emily reminds me of something else we need to do.  Its like this wiki has a life of its own and it just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. It's got claws and it won't let go, we need to cut its head off but I'm afraid if we did we'd find out its a hydra and would simply grow a head back. I had to explain to my piano teacher why I didn't practice the required 10 hours last week, wikis are not acceptable excuses I found out.  She assigned me another piece to learn before Wednesday to make up for my laziness. Why do teachers think students have all the time in the world, don't they know we have other things to do outside of homework and study?

So now its time to get back to my wiki before Colonel Emily finds out I'm doing a different assignment for my class (this blog) instead of the one she's in charge of, she'll make a good elementary teacher, she knows how to assign homework.

  1. Love the reference to the wiki being a hydra. I'm sure that may well be true.
