Me Before Globbing
My Life was simple before I started globbing; do a little skiing in Korea, eat a glob of ice cream. Take a 7 mile run add a glob of chocolate to the ice cream. Go to the gym for an hour's worth of sweat, throw a glob of soap in the washer to wash the pile of dirty clothes from skiing, running and sweating. Yes there were simple globs in my life and now I know the truth, I knew nothing about globbing until last week. Who knew there was more to life than a huge glob of butter to put on popcorn (which I don't do because I don't like butter or margarine). But I'm slipping down a large glob of, "off the subject." It seems that teachers all across the nation are Globsters. They create these globsters in order to share information with their students. It works like this; 1) pick a subject to teach, 2) gather information, 3) put the information and a virtual board, 4) send the URL to your students to read and study at home, and 5) talk about what they learned and then ask them to create their own Globster. You see if I hadn't started these classes I may have never learned about globbing and then my life would be that much less enriched. To think I though operating satellites was complicated but nothing can compare to the complexity of globbing.
The site is called Glogster and the concept is to make sharing information with your students simpler and appealing. I must admit it beats reading a bunch of pages in a book written by someone who forgot how boring textbooks can be. Its a great way to make learning more interactive and appealing to the students of today. The uses are endless for both teachers and students if you have a creative mind. The problem was, it was my three sons who got the artistic DNA not me. I am sure that when I was created the DNA was placed somewhere in their dad and me but in both cases hidden until the right vessels appeared; neither of us have a creative bone in our body. So this dormant gene left us and never to be seen again until it manifest itself in the boys. I'm was asked to create something creative, back to satellites being easier. It took me 4 days and one night up until 0200 before I; 1) figured out how to use the site (thank you YouTube), 2) managed to figure out how to fit all the information in the glogster, and 3) realized I had to go back in and put some type of video in the mess I had created. Who knew professors could be so cruel. And did I mention it had to look good, okay mine only came close to the last requirement. By the time I finished I felt like Globbing had eaten my brain and now it looks like the picture below.
You are plenty creative. It just normally involves fire and explosions.
